The creation of Lejernes Hus

Lejernes Hus started way back as Slagelse Lejerforening - and we have actually survived for more than 100 years! Over time, we gained extra muscle as more volunteers showed up and threw themselves into the work with great commitment. The association quickly became known as the go-to place where tenants in West Zealand could find help and get good advice when they were in housing difficulties.

At some point we joined forces with Lejernes LO. When they started to focus more on metropolitan rental issues, we felt that we lost touch with our own West Zealand roots. So in the spring of 2019, we took courage, said goodbye to LLO, and chose to go solo as Lejernes Hus.

Today, we have a dream team of experienced case managers who fight tenants' cases with fervour. We are experts in tenancy law and help tenants navigate conflicts with landlords. Because we believe that help should be available to everyone, we keep the membership fee as low as possible, as Lejernes Hus does not make money from tenants. The association's expenses are covered and we have a small surplus to ensure that even disproportionate expenses can be covered.

Our vision is crystal clear: Lejernes Hus should be the strong and supportive hand that helps tenants with challenges and ensures fair treatment. The members decide the direction of our organisation at the general meeting - and we listen! The board's most important job is to make a difference in the rental sector and at the same time ensure that case processing is top notch.

We also take our social responsibility seriously. We work with students and interns from vocational schools who get the chance to experience daily life with us and learn how to tackle the exciting (and sometimes hectic) challenges of our work. This not only gives them work experience, but also a taste of what it's like to be part of a team passionate about an important cause.

All this - and much more - helps keep the wheels turning at Lejernes Hus. We're here for the tenants, and we're proud of the work we do!
